For some reason, people all around the internet are wrongly identifying the portrait of Lucrezia Panciatichi as the “Blood Countess” Elizabeth Báthory of Hungary. I have no idea why, the painting of Lucrezia is pretty well-known. It’s at the Uffzi.
So, for the record, this is a portrait of the actual Countess. She was so severely inbred it’s no wonder she was nuts.
